Express Entry

It is way for permanent residency of Canada based on a point system. There are 3 immigration programs managed through Express Entry: 

1 – CEC (Canadian Experience Class)

You must meet minimum requirements to meet the eligibility for this program. Requirements are:

  • A minimum of one-year full-time experience gained in Canada in the past three years before you apply for PR [30 hours per week for 12 months = 1560 hours]. The job must be from TEER 0, 1, 2, 3 
  • Demonstrate their language proficiency in either English or French 
  • Education credential assessment is requirement for the education completed outside of Canada.  

2 – FSW (Federal Skilled Worker)

You must meet six selection factors to be eligible for FSW. If you have equal to or more than 67 points in six selection factors, your eligibility for FSW can be determined based on the following:

  • Skilled work experience for a minimum of one year in the past 10 years either in Canada or abroad. The experience must be at least one year continuous and under the same NOC.  
  • Demonstrate their language proficiency in either English or French 
  • Education can be either inside Canada or abroad or both. If completed outside Canada, it must be evaluated.  
  • Proof of Funds are required to show that you have enough to support your family 

3 – FSTP (Federal Skilled Trade Program)

The FSTP targets individuals with experience in specific skilled trade occupations that are in demand in Canada. These occupations are classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system and include jobs such as electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, and heavy-duty equipment mechanics, among others.  

You must meet minimum requirements to meet the eligibility for this program. Requirements are: 

  • At least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in a skilled trade within the last five years.  
  • Demonstrate their language proficiency in either English or French   
  • Must have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer for at least one year, or a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian province or territory.   
  • Must have sufficient funds to support themselves and their family members

Family Sponsorship:

You can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if you’re at least 18 years old and either a Canadian Citizen, PR or registered as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.

 

Sponsoring spouse or dependent children: 

 

As a Sponsor, you must be financially stable and prove you can support the family financially. Family member must not need social assistance from the government. You must be living in Canada to sponsor your partner or dependent child. There is no income requirement. If you live in Quebec, your income will be assessed by the Quebec ministry.  

 

Spouse must be over 18 and legally married. Dependent children must be under 22 years old and are not married or in common-law relationship. Dependent child must also be financially dependent.  

 

Sponsoring Parents and Grandparents: 

 

You can submit interest to sponsor your parents and grandparents if you are Canadian Citizen or PR. You must submit your NOA for three years immediately preceding the date of your application.  

 

Sponsoring relatives: 

 

You can only sponsor relatives like a brother, sister, aunt, or uncle in very specific situations. If you do not have a living relative you could sponsor instead, you can sponsor one of your relatives related to you by blood or adoption of any age.

Citizenship:

To become a Canadian citizen, applicant must be a permanent resident and have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days) have filed their taxes pass a citizenship test prove their language skills in English or French Other requirements may apply. 

PR Card Renewal:

You should only apply for a PR card if:   

  • Your card has expired or will expire in less than 9 months your card is lost, stolen, or destroyed.   
  • You didn’t receive your card within 180 days (about 6 months) of immigrating to Canada   
  • You need to update your card to legally change your name, change your citizenship, change your gender designation, correct your date of birth.
